Overall Breakdown: Toledo looked very impressive on offense in nearly scoring 60 points versus a very talented yet inexperienced New Hampshire squad. The offensive stars Adonis Thomas and Eric Page did not need many touches to make their presences felt with Thomas rushing 9 times for 115 yards and a touchdown while Page had 60 yards on 5 catches and a touchdown. Page also had a 43 yard kickoff return and a 29 yard punt return setting up nice field position. With a huge home game versus Boise State, the Rockets must not look past the Buckeyes and what many see as an automatic loss. Ohio State looked great in a season opening win over Akron. The defense looked great for the Buckeyes and the final score looked impressive but 14 4th quarter points extended the lead and made it look worse than it was. Ohio State could have trouble with Toledo due to overlooking what is a very talented offense for the Rockets. Toledo should be able to move the ball much better versus OSU than Akron did in week one. This game could and should be fairly close in the 1st half with a halftime score along the lines of 21-14 or 14-10 in OSU’s favor but that defense of Toledo will have lots of trouble in the second half with depth and talent issues and Ohio State should pull away in the 4th quarter with a final score along the lines of 35-21. The defense is the key to the Toledo squad and if the defense can force some turnovers, many people in Toledo will be pleasantly surprised with a very close game.
Great preview
ReplyDeleteI'm telling you Toledo is a top 10 non AQ school and NIU isn't. Their Defense is suspect and Toledo is much better rounded as a team.
