Some have asked about the possible candidacy of Jacksonville State and how they would match up versus the other three expected to fight for the 14th Sun Belt spot.

Comparison of James Madison, Liberty, and Lamar for the Sun Belt

I was asked for a comparison of the three teams many expect to be the favorites to get the final Sun Belt spot in 2014. This should help.
Just to clear one thing up... I am not saying these are the official finalists. They are just the only three schools to really make sense as favorites for expansion.

How will the Sun Belt look with Liberty added? (Updated 5:11 PM)

With Liberty University looking more and more like the frontrunner to be the newest member of the Sun Belt Conference, the Sun Belt will be back up to 12 football teams for the 2014 season. Liberty's inclusion is the direct result of Western Kentucky taking off for Conference USA and James Madison turning down the Sun Belt offer.

WKU in Conference USA: How does it work out?

As is being reported at several outlets, the Western Kentucky University board of regents will vote today to finalize a deal to the Hilltoppers to move to Conference USA in all sports beginning in 2014. The Hilltoppers will be joining a conference that includes Southern Miss, Marshall, UAB, Rice, UTEP, FAU, FIU, Louisiana Tech, MTSU, North Texas and UTSA with Old Dominion and UNCC joining in 2015.
